7 Jaguar XJ13. Via wikipedia.org. The Jaguar XJ13 was built up from the ground using the hallmarks of the 1960's successful race cars. This was after its predecessor, the XJ12, failed to compete in the 24-hour race at Le Mans. The XJ13 came powered by a 5.0-liter V12 that produced a potent 503 horsepower.
Jaguar upset the status quo from the start, shocking the post-war car establishment with models that not only looked like a slice of the future, but that rapidly became high benchmarks for performance and refinement. And now, with a back catalogue comprising the XK120, E-type, XJ6 and XJ220, you can see why…. So, here are 22 of the very best
The Jaguar Type E V12 has come out in the following versions: The Jaguar E-Type, or the Jaguar XK-E for the North American market, is a British sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975. I just recently inherited a 1971 series 3 2+2 and I’m looking to completely rebuild it. I have childhood memories of the car and I couldn’t let it go to the junkyard.
More power and torque for an easier drive. In October, Jaguar announced the new 4.2-litre XK engine for use in the MkX saloon and E-type. Built in response to the large capacity V8 engines appearing in the USA, the new 4235cc engine boosted torque from the 3.8-litre’s 260lb ft at 4000rpm to 283lb ft at 4000rpm.
The V12 revs to 6500 unlike 5000/5500 for 4.2/3.8 sixes, so cruising issues are a mental thing more than pushing the engine ‘too hard’ mechanically. The Jag box option means everything stays workshop manual-stock and parts are off the shelf. Same propshaft, transmission mounts, gear lever position, speedo.
